18th Historical Pair of Palatial Sevres Porcelain. History of Item: The Pair of Palatial Sevres Porcelain Vases/Urns Offered by the prince of Rohan to the princess of Lamballe. Louis René Édouard de Rohan known as Cardinal de Rohan (25 September 1734 – 16 February 1803), prince de Rohan-Guéméné, was a French bishop of Strasbourg, politician, cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church, and cadet of the Rohan family (which traced its origin to the kings of Brittany). He was born in Paris. Princess Marie-Louise Thérèse of Savoy-Carignan (8 September 1749 – 3 September 1792) was a member of a cadet branch of the House of Savoy. She was married at the age of 17 to Louis Alexandre de Bourbon-Penthièvre, Prince de Lamballe, the heir to the greatest fortune in France. After her marriage, which lasted a year, she went to court and became the confidante of "Queen Marie Antoinette". She was killed in the massacres of September 1792 during the French Revolution.
